Friday 13th August. Lucky.

Seem to be drinking chemo at the moment. Knocking me flat over the head. Will be glad when this round 2 is all over. But, so far so good. Nothing untoward happening. Seems like autumn already outside: grey and overcast and looking cool. Lights on the cars still at 8 o’clock. I hope there will be a turnround and some summer comes visiting again. I realise my treatment will take me through 2 full seasons, not finishing till November. So summer and autumn colours I will be watching through these hospital windows. Last night chaos. So much noise, machines, bleeping call lights, lights left on, patients calling…very short staffed, mostly with agency nurses. The place does seem to fall apart a bit. Lisa, thanks for offer, but got earplugs! Though stupidly don’t use them. Dull blog. But brain blunted! Just really to say hallo to all, and hope everyone good and having a hottish summer and fun. Back soon, ciao ciao tutti.

  1. Lucky for some indeed!
Sounds noisy, have you got your iPod with you?
The weather is rubbish, I don't like grey, where has the summer gone? Hoping you may bring it home again with you when you get out ;)
Not long to go now until round 2 is up, hang in there.
    Lots of love xx

  2. We often expect summer to be July and August but often we get really nice Indian Summers in October and November. I'd work on Luigi to take you on a nice holiday somewhere warm in November/December or turn the central heating on full blast when you get home and borrow some lights from the photography department for the same effect.

I'm collaborating with Geoff White on the next podcast. I have a new Flip camera to do video interviews (http://www.theflip.com/en-gb/Products/mino.aspx). So I'll do a little interview then we are going to recreate one of his posters stage by stage. Just got his CDs through a minute ago.

There was quite a nice video interview with Raymond Briggs on the last UAL e-bulletin:

  3. Hi Tessa
Only just worked out how to add a comment again - things sound more hopeful despite the awfulness of chemo? - just start eating like a horse now (do horses eat a lot?). Felt definitely autumnal this morning at the pool - better in than out. I think a warm holiday in November as mentioned above sounds like a perfect idea - start planning NOW!

  4. Hi Tessa,
I am still not giving up wearing sandals and t-shirts...I refuse to wear wintery stuff however I started already to smell mothballs on buses...!
It doesn't matter when you finish your chemo...just carry on being positive and get well. This is the most important thing...you will catch up with the good season going on holiday to somewhere really hot while we will be wrapped in scarves and woolly hats.
    big hug. X B

  5. Hi T

Glad to hear the good news about all your tests - it does sound much more positive. When will this round of chemo finish, is it 10 days like last time? Loving the sound of a holiday somewhere warm - not going to happen for us this year (except for Alex of course, he's already been to Croatia and is off to Barbados in October)!!
    Much love Jan x

  6. Hi T,
You're right, it feels like autumn has arrived. Last year we had an amazing Indian Summer, I see no reason why we won't have one again this year.
Our local councillor is on your case re transport! He feels that Lewisham may have something to offer you.
xxxxxxxe (our bunting is still up; nothing has changed since you last left!)

  7. Tessa, I can't see the message I thought I posted yesterday. Suffice as to say it is excellent news re tests etc and agree with all comments about staying positive and focussed on getting better, you will have a holiday later.
Had fun in greece found the 39 degrees pretty hard going but now would love to be back there, I am not ready for Autumn a few leaves just fluttered past the window as I type this yet the grapes and tomatoes are not ready perhaps the sun is waiting for you to come home again! Lots of love Lulu xx

  8. Hi Tess

Just caught up with your blog - change of medication has not agreed with me but on the up now - it sounds as if you are handling the chemo much better this time, which is great.

Chucking down with rain here and very grey, definitely autumnal but trying to pretend it isn't, come back summer all is forgiven. A warm holiday sounds brilliant.

Started a whole lot of new work and I am loving the colours mostly greys!

    Lots of love P
